Architect, architectural historian, and historic preservation advocate Alain Munkittrick will present “Historic Houses of the Central Connecticut River Valley,” with historic images of architecturally significant historic houses and the family stories connected with them. He will share examples with many never before published photographs - mostly drawn from his book, Historic Houses of the Connecticut River Valley. These houses and their stories will serve to illustrate some of the book’s broad themes, illuminating the history of New England’s “Great River.”
Copies of Historic Houses of the Connecticut River Valley will be for sale after the program.
Munkittrick lives in the Connecticut River Valley, and in his book, curates historic photographs from the archives of local historical societies, museums, libraries, and private collections throughout the valley. Many of these images are being published for the first time along with extensive research that reveals their fascinating history.
This event is free and open to the public.
