First-Person Visit with General & Mrs. ulysses s. Grant

  • Thomas Smith House 251 North West Street Feeding Hills, MA, 01030 United States (map)

We are excited for a first-person visit (complete with horses) by General and Mrs. Ulysses S. Grant - portrayed by Sam and Julie Grant - at the Thomas Smith House.

General and Mrs. Grant will arrive on horseback at 1:00 PM., and after an introduction of Grant’s life by Mrs. Julia D. Grant, the engagements, habits and contributions of the great Civil War general will be explored by Sam Grant through the use of lively and often humorous anecdotes, letters and his impressions of the times.

A highly acclaimed academic and motivational speaker, film producer, and United States Navy veteran, Sam Grant has dedicated the last twenty plus years of his life to understanding, portraying, and honoring Ulysses S. Grant. His inspiring and informative presentation will leave you with the overwhelming feeling that you have experienced the true General Grant, up close and personal, as history should be.

There will be photo opportunities with the General and Mrs. Grant and “the boys.”

The historical association’s new Images of American title, Around Agawam and Feeding Hills will also be available for purchase and author David Cecchi will be on hand to sign copies. The book features more than 200 historic photos depicting Agawam and Feeding Hills’ rich history. Proceeds from the sales of the book will benefit the Agawam Historical Association.

The National Register-listed Thomas Smith House and its preserved 1920s garage will also be open for tours.

This event is free and open to the public. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Agawam Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
